Gas Prices Will Go Up

Obama's gas price warning: They won't last forever

Obama warns the nation about future gas prices, stating that "they will not last forever." He suggests that citizens should save the money that they are saving at the pump and possibly buy a new car with the money. He is also set to promote fuel efficiency of Ford vehicles later in the month. He is also going to speak about the bailout of the auto industry that happened on Wednesday.

However, Congress is planning to use the lowering gas prices as an opportunity to increase gas taxes. This may not be a bad thing in my opinion if the garnered money is used to pay justified expenses although I am quite sure that regardless of the taxes use citizens will not be happy.

I view Obama's opinion as completely logical. I mean you don't have to be a genius to understand that gas prices will eventually go up. He was simply just stating the obvious. My advice is to save money while you can because some world catastrophe will surely cause the price of gas to sky-rocket.

  1. I agree with Ashley; Obama is simply stating the truth here. I think it will not be a shock to anyone when prices eventually rise, but many will be sad. I also think it's a good idea to use that money you're saving now and invest it in your future.

  2. I agree and disagree with Obama's view. Yes, gas prices are bound to go up, as everything is, but they will rise a lot quicker a lot sooner if the Keystone XL Pipeline is not passed. I also feel that this is on the grounds of "gas running out quick." Though I may be wrong in my assumptions, I don't think it's going to run out within several generations of us.

  3. I agree with Giles' comment: OPEC pretty much controls the supply of the world's oil, so they can easily reduce their oil production to make gas prices go up, or they can over-produce to make gas prices go down which is what they are currently doing. Could they just be doing this to try to prevent the passage of the Keystone Pipeline? And then once it doesn't pass what will prevent them from reducing production to spike prices again?

  4. Well I'm pretty pumped that gas prices are so low right now. I think its really important that Americans realize that these prices are fluid. A perfect example is the fact that they have dropped a dollar so quickly. So I would agree that people should utilize the low prices while they can and use the money they have saved From the low prices on something that could help them in the future.
